Promoting myself
One thing I learned was to not rely on friends and family to promote you. No offense to

them at all. I value their love and support. But when it comes to building my brand, I’ve come to realize it’s not their responsibility to put me out there. I also don’t want to put pressure on anyone or make them feel obligated. when I realize that if I am going to have to promote my brand I will have to do it on my own. Coming out of my comfort and going to events by myself, walking into a space completely alone .Networking by my self had its ups and downs One of the hardest parts? Not having a plus one to chat with when you’re standing by yourself. I used to be shy. The old me would’ve been content staying in her own bubble, talking to her usual group, avoiding the awkwardness of small talk. But growth doesn’t happen in bubbles. And of course, the practical reality hits too: you come home exhausted, and the daily chores are still waiting for you. Life doesn’t pause for your hustle. Now, the good stuff.
I’m meeting new people. That alone is a huge win. One of my goals last year was to go out strike up a conversation with someone new, make new friends . These networking events are helping me achieve that and I get to promote my brand. It’s empowering to walk into a event with confidence and leave knowing you made an impact. if there’s a few tips that I can share so far is Promote yourself! I leave my business cards everywhere I go. Your best self is not a perfect one—it’s an imperfect self who shows up anyway.
Here are a few tips I’ve picked up so far:-
Keep business cards on you—people will ask for them!
Exchange cards—don’t just accept one without offering yours.
Carry a pen—sometimes the old-school methods still work.
Save a QR code to your phone’s home screen, just in case you run out of cards.
