Rush for the Holidays: Between Halloween and Christmas......Living in the present moment

It’s early November, and I’m sitting in Starbucks with a pumpkin spice latte in hand. Around me, the baristas are already putting up Christmas decorations and chatting excitedly about a new trending holiday cup that’s about to drop. They’re joking about how they’ll probably end up waiting in line for it—because of course, what we all need is another adorable cup with a straw.
Meanwhile, the new holiday drinks launch tomorrow. It’s only the first week of November, and already the holiday rush is creeping in.
Don’t get me wrong—I love Starbucks’ holiday drinks. But right now, I’m still very much in fall mode. I’m still savoring pumpkin spice season, watching the leaves change, and soaking in all the cozy, golden vibes of autumn. I’m reminding myself to stay in the present moment.
Embracing November and Thanksgiving
This year, I’ve made a conscious choice: for the month of November, I’m not thinking about Christmas (well… except for the shopping part—but I have my reasons!). Instead, I’m embracing Thanksgiving and the spirit of gratitude that often gets overlooked in the rush between Halloween and Christmas.
I’m currently doing a “30 Days of Thankfulness” challenge, which I’ve been sharing on my Instagram. Each day, I post something I’m thankful for. It’s been such a grounding practice—one that reminds me to slow down, notice the little things, and truly live in the present moment.
Learning to Stay Present
Being present isn’t always easy. My mind loves to jump ahead—to plans, goals, and the next big thing. But the truth is, we can’t control the future or change the past. All we really have is right now.
And in this moment, I can choose gratitude.
Gratitude doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be as simple as appreciating your morning coffee, that peaceful drive to work, or the ability to buy groceries. There’s no right or wrong when it comes to being thankful—just a willingness to notice and appreciate what’s already here.
Looking Ahead—But Not Too Fast
Now, about that holiday shopping I mentioned… yes, I started early. But it’s not because I’m rushing into Christmas—it’s because I want December to be about what really matters: my family. I want the holidays to feel meaningful, not rushed or stressful.
I want to spend time with my loved ones, make memories, and truly enjoy the season for what it’s meant to be.
